12 product page changes that lift conversion.

Quick answer

The product page changes that most often increase Shopify conversions are: better product images, a clear price and delivery date near the add-to-cart button, visible reviews, simple variant selection, a sticky add-to-cart on mobile, and answers to common questions on the page.

Your product page is where shoppers decide to buy or leave. Small changes here often have a bigger effect than a full redesign. These are the improvements we test most often for Shopify brands in Canada and the US, grouped by what they fix.

Help shoppers see the product

1. Show at least five high-quality images

Include the product from several angles, close-ups of details, and the product in use. Shoppers cannot touch the product, so images do that job.

2. Add a short video

A 10–20 second clip showing size, texture or how the product works answers questions that photos cannot.

3. Show scale

Use a model, a hand or a common object so shoppers understand the real size.

Remove doubt about price and delivery

4. Put price, shipping and delivery date together

Show “Free shipping over $75” and an estimated delivery date right next to the add-to-cart button. Unexpected shipping costs are one of the most common reasons people abandon a purchase.

5. Show prices in the shopper’s currency

Use Shopify Markets so Canadian visitors see CAD and US visitors see USD. Converting currency in their head adds friction.

6. Explain returns in one line

“Free 30-day returns” near the button reduces risk for first-time buyers.

Build trust

7. Show reviews above the fold

A star rating and review count under the product title, linked to the full reviews lower on the page.

8. Use customer photos

Photos from real customers are more convincing than studio images alone.

9. Answer common questions on the page

Add a short FAQ for sizing, materials, care and shipping. Your customer service inbox tells you which questions to answer.

Make buying easy

10. Simplify variant selection

Use colour swatches and size buttons instead of dropdowns, and show clearly which options are sold out.

11. Add a sticky add-to-cart on mobile

Most shoppers browse on their phone. A button that stays visible while they scroll makes it easy to buy at any point.

12. Offer one relevant add-on

One well-chosen “Pairs well with” product raises order value. Too many options distract.

Test before you roll out

What works for one store may not work for another. Where traffic allows, test each change as an A/B test for two to four weeks and keep only what improves results. For smaller stores, make one change at a time and compare results month over month.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good conversion rate for a Shopify store?

It varies a lot by industry, price and traffic source. Many stores fall roughly between 1% and 3%. Compare your store against its own past results rather than a single benchmark.

How many visitors do I need to A/B test?

As a rough guide, a page needs a few thousand visitors a month for tests to give reliable results within a few weeks.
